Learn how to instantly tidy the files on your desktop, or within a folder.

If your Desktop is looking a little cluttered and you want to quickly tidy it up, then Mac OS offers a handy tool that automatically organizes your files and folders in a grid layout.

To do this, simply click View in the Finder menu, then choose Clean Up. You’ll then see all your folders, files and shortcuts arrange themselves in a basic grid.

If you want to go a little further, it’s also possible to organize your desktop files by name, date, kind, size or tag color. To do this just click View in the Finder menu, hover the cursor over Clean Up By and choose the relevant option.
